The Department of PG Studies in Kaumarabhritya organized a State level CME on Bala Poshana in Vagbhata hall, Sri Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda, Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi on 24/09/2024.
The President of the function was Dr Nagaraj S (Medical Superintendent, SDMCAH&R, Udupi),Chief guest for the ceremony was Dr Shilpa Hegde (Neurodevelopmental and Behavioural Paediatrician, Founder, Director Kalarava Centre for Child development). The Chief Organizing Secretary was Dr Prathviraj Puranik (Professor and Head, Department of Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi).
Dr Ashok B N ( Dean PG and PhD studies Medical, SDM College of Ayurveda Hospital and Research Centre, Udupi) was present among the dignitaries. The programme commenced with Prayer by Dr Aishwarya (II MD Scholar, Dept. of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi) and Ms Suprabha (Internee, SDMCAH&R) followed by inauguration and lighting the lamp by the guests.
Dr Prathviraj Puranik delivered the welcome Address. Dr Shilpa Hegde congratulated the department for the organization of an apt CME on nutrition and highlighted the importance of maternal nutrition during the Antenatal period and quoted an example of a child being able to recite Slokas which his mother used to chant during the pregnancy period. Dr Nagaraj S highlighted the significance of Annapanavidhi Adhyaya of Acharya Charaka in the current era in his Presidential address. Vote of thanks was given by Dr Sahana Shankari Associate Professor, Dept. Of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya,SDMCAH&R, Udupi.
The first speaker Dr Janardhana Prabhu delivered lectures on the topics “Failure to Thrive and its management” and “Role of microbiota in Nutritional deficiency disorders”. He stressed upon the etiology and the management of the same and importance of right diagnosis.
The second speaker Dr Sruthi Kumar Bharadwaj (Assistant Professor, Neonatology, KMC Hospital, Manipal) gave lecture on the topic “Breastmilk banking”. She talked about the relevance and scope of Breastmilk banking owing to the pertaining importance.
Nearly 25 Delegates who participated in the CME were from Alvas Ayurveda Medical College, Moodbidri, Yennepoya Ayurveda Medical College, Mangalore and PG Scholars from Dept of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi.
For the Valedictory function Dr Veera Kumara K (Dean Administration, SDMCAH&R, Udupi) was the President and Dr Sruthi Kumar Bharadhwaj was the special guest. Welcome Adress was done by Dr Elakkiya Selvi V ((Final Year MD Scholar, Dept of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH &R,
Udupi) and Vote of Thanks was delivered by Dr Likitha (First Year MD Scholar, Dept of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi). A token of gratitude was handed over to all the guest speakers. Other faculties of the institution, Dr Kavya, Assistant Professor, Dept of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi also graced the occasion with her presence.
Dr Chithralekha, Assistant Professor, of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi was the Programme Coordinator. All PG Scholars of Dept of Kaumarabhritya, Internees also actively participated in the programme. Master of Ceremony for Inaugural function was done by Dr Ashigha S (Final Year MD Scholar, Dept of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi) and for Valedictory function, Dr Pratibha Irappa Mayyakar (Final Year MD Scholar, Dept of PG studies in Kaumarabhritya, SDMCAH&R, Udupi).
